Metteteci la Passione e tutto risultera’ Meraviglioso

Meet Sheila and Dulce, the culinary duo behind our kitchen. Their passion for food began at age three and led them to open their own restaurant in Rome – BARRA. Together, they crafted unforgettable dishes and taught cooking classes throughout Italy. Their culinary journey and their love for cooking has only grown stronger with time.

 

Subhra and Nita, David and Robin D’Souza fell in love with Rome’s sensory delights and share a love for cooking and baking. It was during this time that they met Sheila and Dulce, who introduced them to the art and science of baking, and together, they embarked on a new culinary adventure, Anima Romana - bringing a piece of Rome to Toronto.

Discover the taste of Italy with our menu at Anima Romana. From artisanal sourdough bread, to classic pizzas, to irresistibly delicious Viennoiserie pastries, each baked good is crafted with love by our talented team. Buon appetito!

Delicious Pizza

Pizzetta (Pizza)

Topped with fresh ingredients and served on its namesake paddle. Made with a high-hydration dough and three day-long rising fermentation baked in an electric oven which is what gives it such a delicious crispy flat bread.

Delicious Viennoiserie

Cornettone (Viennoiserie)

Breakfast pastries made in the style of Austria. Made with white flour and active yeast cultures which cause dough to achieve perfect flakiness.
Our typical Italian recipe is enriched with sugar, butter and eggs - giving it a similar consistency to our typical panettone dough.

Delicious Bread

Pagnotello (Bread)

Our sourdough bread is naturally leavened, we do not use commercial yeast to rise. We use a starter to rise. This is what makes our bread so easy to digest and gives it that amazing tangy flavour and lightly chewy texture. It’s richer in nutrients, less likely to spike blood sugar, and contains a significantly lower amount of gluten than regular bread.
